Import Outlook Express Messages into MS Outlook Email Client

Microsoft Inc. provides Outlook Express as a freeware email client. Its versatile features like robustness ease to use and business friendly data management always attracts millions of users across the globe. Steps to import messages from Outlook Express:
In Outlook Express, messages are stored in DBX files like Inbox.DBX, SentItem.DBX or Folders.DBX (any user’s created folder). Each kind of messages is stored in DBX file. In context of importing mailbox messages of Outlook Express, user should target Inbox.DBX file for migration from one email client to another.

Cases 1:
When Source (Outlook Express) and destination (MS Outlook) email clients are installed on the same computer
1.    In Outlook, on the File menu, click Import and Export.
2.    Click Import Internet Mail and Addresses, and then click Next.


3.    Click Outlook Express.
4.    Select the Import mail check box.
5.    Click Next.
6.    Click Finish.
7.    To save a copy of the import summary to your Inbox, click Save in Inbox.

Cases 2:

When Email Clients (Outlook Express and MS Outlook) are installed on different computers
In this situation, follow these steps mentioned below:

1.   Make a Copy of Outlook Express Files
•    Make sure that Outlook Express account installed
•    Go through Outlook Express, Reach at Tools menu then click Options.
•    Click the Maintenance tab.
•    Click Store Folder, and then write down the whole path shown in the field in the Store Location dialog box.
•    Check Outlook Express files i.e. located in a hidden folder.
•    To View hidden folders
•    Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows Server 2003   
•    Click Start, and then click My Computer.
•    On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
•    Click the View tab, and then click the Show hidden files and folders option.
•    Follow the location that you found in the Store Location dialog box.

2.   Copy Outlook Express data on another computer where Outlook is installed
•    Copy the entire Outlook Express folder into external backup media (Hardisk, Pendrive or Floppy Disk)
•    Copy entire data on targeted machine where MS Outlook is installed
•    Now, open Outlook Express ( Avoid any kind of new a/c creation)
•    On the Tools menu, click Options.
•    Click the Maintenance tab.
•    Click Store Folder and click on Change.
•    Track the location where Outlook Express folder is copied then click the folder.
•    To close the Browse for Folder dialog box, click OK.
•    To close the Store Location dialog box, click OK.
•    For replacing messages from old store location, click ‘Yes’ to switch to that store.
•    Exit Outlook Express, Now user initiate process again

3.    Now Outlook Express messages into Outlook
